Dancing Pandas?

I know we watched them in class today, but this video of the 12 Girls Band is pretty good. The landscapes are beautiful and who doesn't like camels. Most of us associate camels with the Middle East, so it interested me that there were camels in the video. Their neon pink outfits are pretty appealing as well.

The yellow of the costumes was the first thing that drew me to look at the video. The neatest thing is that these dancers are deaf. I actually put the description into Google Translate. You might notice the women in white dresses who are somewhat conducting the dancers. These dancers are simply stunning; their grace and beauty are so wonderful to watch. The music varies between traditional Chinese, choral, and orchestra music. I hope you enjoy the detail and beauty of this dance as much as I did.

This video is great in SO many ways! From dancing pandas to big bows to big pom-poms. How I got to this beauty? I typed in "Chinese Popular Music". I'm not laughing at the culture at all, but this video makes me smile. They look like they're having so much fun. The drummer is so funny how he tries to flirt with the keyboard player. And the guitar-playing pandas are just so adorable!

  1. Thanks for this particular selection, Lydia. The 12 Girls Band does have a wide variety of videos out there. What might make this one even more intriguing is the music that they're playing--It's "El Condor Pasa," which we saw a group of Andean musicians play by the shores of the lake when we were studying the music of Latin America.

I've seen this video of the 1000 Hands several times, and it always amazes me. And yes, the dancing, guitar-playing pandas are pretty cute.

  3. The dancing was so incredible! Even though all of the dancers were deaf, they could still stay completely together! That must take alot of concentration...it was really hard for everyone to stay together when I was a dancer, and none of us were deaf. :) The 12 Girls band completely intrigued me when we watched them in class, so I watched a bunch of their videos too. :)

  4. I really enjoyed your cool stuff blog! I liked the 12 girls band. I loved watching the camels. The Chinese Pop music video was pretty interesting. I do not know whether to be creeped out or fascinated! The panda was a little strange, but I liked the big bows.

  6. Are all of the dancers deaf? That's amazing! Although the tons of hands thing is a little creepy to me.
The Chinese pop was cute and creepy, and it made me happy. I wonder which Asian country started the interestingly creepy video thing? Its present in China, Japan, and Korea.
